Club committee weren't at all interested as they wanted to get back to their pints. So only two carols around xmas tree then off back inside for a promise of "lets play some more in the warm inside", yeah, 45 minutes later kids disco is still blaring away. we are all still waiting to get on and finish like right muppets.

Following the loss without trace or explanation of Pat Trombione of Owdham a ringer from the distant past has suddenly been shipped back, probably to help cover up the hole left by Pat's sudden sinking demise.

El Presidente or Charlie Knowstake, as he is sometimes known, has run the considerably worrying risk of been asked to stump up subs once more. How this charade will last is anyones guess, not normally more than a week or two though. The Tidesmight bassist has disappeared back into the undergrowth that is the world of the late-night carriage trade again. Who knows when we might see him once more?

We were playing in a courtyard, surrounded on four sides by the old
stables. These had all been converted into various businesses -
restaurants, bookshop, garden ornament shop etc. In the middle was an
ornate fountain from which the horses would have drunk at in the past.
A solitary duck swam on this all day, plying its trade of scrounging
bread from tiny kids. The base of the fountain had formations of ice
which if they melted, never showed it as the ice must have re-formed.

Had to keep drinking hot coffee to keep warm but the ever changing
audience seemed appreciative. Must have been 150 to 200 there at any
one time, so with turnover would have been much more. This makes it all
worth while. That's what Banding is about, at it's best.

The New Mills Masfia are working their evil ways. It was rumoured earlier this week that Chaddy Pat Trombione was looking at a concrete waistcoat instead of the new Masonic jacket. Now he is keeping the newts company at the bottom of the Sett.

His crime was to speak out. You don't do that too often against Papa Masfon. He used to be happy with keeping little schoolkids in their place. Nowadays the Brass just isn't enough. He gets his kicks now in bigger organisations. They call it something like "The Co-Operative"- yeah, everyone co-operates allright. Try not doing, Pat Trombione did.

There's a long list of losers. All gone now of course. The Masfia had them all - they usually didn't tow the line.

Jim, a little while back. He was a Don as well. Don Ductor they say. He was pleasant enough - he knew how to put it about. The basses got him out in the end. They all scarpered at tea break. Jim threw both a wobbler and his baton, neither was ever seen at New Mills again.
